This online course will give employees a better understanding of the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act, as well as their responsibilities under both Acts.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Summarize the purposes of both Acts.
• Describe employees' responsibilities in regards to both Acts.
• Explain the importance of safeguarding personal information held by the Department.
• Be aware of the exempting provisions of both Acts.

This course is intended for all Canada-based and locally engaged consular officers, at both Headquarters and missions abroad, regardless of case management experience. Consular employees will be contacted directly with the link required to access the course. Approximately 70 to 90 minutes will be required to complete all modules. Completion is now a prerequisite for new consular staff to receive ORBIS access.
